How to Make a Felt Gingerbread House

December 1, 2007 · By Angie · 1 Comment

Felt Gingerbread House

Materials:

  • Foam seat cushion (16″ x 16″ X 1″)
  • 1/2 yard brown felt
  • 3 yards white cording
  • Foam board (or cardboard)
  • Spray adhesive
  • Hot glue
  • Assortment of felt and fabric paint for accessories

Instructions:

  1. Using the template, cut 6 house-shaped pieces out of the foam seat cushion.
  2. Stack and hot glue the 6 pieces together.
  3. Spread out the brown felt and set the foam house on top. Be sure there is approximately 9 inches of felt around each side of the house. Glue the bottom of the house to the felt.
  4. Remove the felt that would overlap by cutting from the felt’s edge to the corner of the house (parallel to the house wall). You will make a total of 8 cuts, leaving the felt in a “t” shape.

  5. Glue each piece of felt to the side of the house. It’s okay if it partially overlaps on to the roof of the house.
  6. Cut (2) 7.75″ X 4.75″ pieces from the foam board (or cardboard).
  7. Cover foam board with a piece of brown felt, using the spray adhesive. Wrap corners behind the board and fasten with glue.
  8. Glue roof pieces to the top of the house.
  9. Using hot glue, place white cording to hide the seams.
  10. Make candy accessories and decorate!
